Linda Munoz, Monica Moore and Kay Stone held a two day workshop at the Auburn
Experiment Station and the Gee’s Bend Ferry Terminal Building, November 22nd & 23rd,
2011 with 8th grade students from Camden School of Arts & Technology.  The Black Belt Heritage Area has been awarded a Black Belt Community Foundation grant for the 2011-2012 year to provide workshops in Wilcox, Marengo and Choctaw counties. The lesson on the Gee’s Bend Quilters (Patchwork History Project) was developed by Linda Munoz, as part of her DANA Teaching Artist training through the Alabama Institute for Education in the Arts and the Kennedy Foundation.  The Black Belt Heritage Area is managed by the Center for the Study of the Black Belt at the University of West Alabama.
