  • Location: The Wilcox Area Chamber of Commerce is a 501(c)6, located in Wilcox County, Alabama. The Main Office/Visitor’s Center is located at: 1001 Earl Hilliard Road, Camden, AL. Some work may be done remotely, and at business locations across Wilcox County, and some travel outside Wilcox County is required.

Job Title:   Director  |   Wilcox County, AL                                                       

Part-time | $23,500-$28,500 ǀ Benefits Negotiable 

The Director will identify and coordinate programs and activities which:

(1) advance the general welfare and quality of life of the communities within Wilcox County;

(2) promote and advance tourism opportunities; and

(3) encourage growth within the business ecosystem of the area.

The Director is ultimately responsible for leadership of the activities of the Chamber, ensuring that its vision, mission, and objectives are achieved; written and oral communication with the business community and members of the Chamber; fundraising efforts of the Chamber; managing income and expenditures; maintaining facilities; long range planning; developing, executing, and documenting of Chamber projects in the Wilcox area. The Director is the principal staff person responsible for coordinating all Chamber project activities locally and representing the community regionally and nationally.  The Director reports to the Executive Committee of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and must establish a good working relationship with the Chamber Board of Directors, Chamber Membership, and City/County representatives, as well as providing leadership to Chamber staff and volunteers in accomplishing the goals and objectives of the organization.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of related experience (supervisory, event planning & execution, grant writing, public speaking, volunteer management, fundraising) highly preferred.
    • OR – associate degree with 3-5 years of related management or marketing experience;
    • OR – 4-6 years of related management or marketing experience.
    • Chamber and/or economic development experience preferred
  • Exhibits strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proven record of working effectively in an independent environment, demonstrating creative, entrepreneurial approaches to problem solving, enthusiasm, and proficient organizational skills.
  • Budget Management and Fundraising experience highly preferred
  • Strong technology skills with programs such as: Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Power Point, Adobe. Work may include: preparing member recruitment information, brochure/promotional flier design, slide and video presentations, etc.
  • Management of WACC Website and multiple Social Media outlets
  • Flexibility to work some nights and weekends
  • Current Driver’s License; Ability to reside in Wilcox County while employed as Director
